Hunting Squirrels: Which .22 is for You? Lever-action, single-shot, bolt-action, semi-automatic and pump. When we picture a .22-caliber rifle in our mind, one of these traditional guns is sure to appear. However, a new style is emerging as a great sporting tool. Lately, .22-caliber rifles are being built on tactical rifle frames. These guns may look a lot different, but when it comes to putting a round in a squirrel’s ear they all work the same. With squirrel season in full swing in the Midwest, what better time to take a look at America’s favorite rifle caliber. Literally billions of rounds of .22-caliber rimfire ammunition are fired each year. Most of it is shot while plinking and hunting squirrels and rabbits, though small varmints like groundhogs are also heavily hunted with rimfire guns Today, almost all rimfire ammo in common use is of .22-caliber, with only a few limited exceptions (like the .17 HMR). This was not always the case, however. One of the most sought-after "Yankee" guns of the Civil War was a Spencer carbine. An incredibly large magazine capacity and the fixed cartridge it used made it a very desirable rifle, but the cartridge used in the Spencer was a rimfire cartridge of about .52 caliber. There were also many rimfire handguns in this era, for instance, those of .30 and.38 caliber. Even the .44-caliber Henry rifle was a rimfire gun. This aside made, the rimfire ammo being used today is primarily as follows: .22 Short, .22 Long, .22 Long Rifle and .22 Winchester Magnum Rimfire. There are a number of variations which include standard velocity, high velocity, solid bullets and hollow-point bullets. One or more of these variations can be found in a single cartridge: for example, a .22 Long Rifle, high-velocity, hollow-point. (As a side note for any 5mm fans out there: the 5mm Remington Magnum never really caught on, and it is probably not unfair to say that, even though it is a relatively recent introduction, it is already a dying cartridge. The other, more popular rimfires will for sure be with us for as long as we have the right to bear arms.) The lifespan of the various .22-caliber rimfires is assured by their comparatively low cost, low noise level, good accuracy and sufficient energy for taking small varmint and small game at ranges out to 50 yards. Under certain circumstances the ranges can be stretched to 75 or 100 yards, but the use of any rimfire cartridges at ranges beyond 100 yards falls into the stunt category, and will generally result in the loss of a lot of crippled game.

Wolf charges Bear, then Bear charges the Wolf. I waited at a Bison carcass from 5am to 9pm for 3 days. Eagles and coyotes had been coming in trying to get a bite, while the Grizzly guarded the carcass, just as its mother taught it to. It would sleep on it and cover it with dirt, and when it seemingly left the scene….it would show back up when other animals tried to feed. On the 3rd morning a lone Wolf 1479 showed up from the Junction Butte pack. It had about 10 minutes to eat before the Grizzly came back. They had an initial stare down. The wolf stood on the carcass and then charged the bear. The bear initially retreated and then decided to charge the wolf. Of course the bear reclaimed the carcass. Najboljši trenutek za strel je vzlet, ko liska močno pospeši in poskuša precej močno vzleteti, pred tem pa preteče veliko pot skozi vodo in zamahne s krili.

Двое жителей сидели и отдыхали. Ближе к ночи вышли на улицу, а в 20 метрах — медведь. Как было с ним не подружиться? У охотников об истории с мишкой своя правда. — История с медведем началась еще осенью, — рассказывает витебский охотник Юрий Горегляд. — Его часто видели местные жители и охотники в окрестностях деревень Пукшино, Глазомичи, Яновичи в 35 км на северо-восток от Витебска. Милый и безобидный мишка взрослел, набирал силу, а с силой пришла и наглость. Медведь перестал бояться людей, их вида и голоса. Более того, он не боялся отпугивающих выстрелов в воздух. Разорил по осени пасеку у егеря, пугал грибников и местных жителей. Был сделан запрос в Минприроды на отстрел опасного медведя, но ответ был банален, в стиле: «Вы что?! Он же краснокнижный вид! Отпугивайте». Юрий сам увидел медведя за неделю до происшествия в Пукшино. — Медведь стал ломиться в коровник на краю деревни. Его немного отогнали местные собаки. Недалеко. Он затаился в овраге в 200 м от фермы. По звонку егеря мы подъехали, чтобы отогнать мишку. Прошлись немного по следу, а затем срисовали в тепловизор с 80 метров в овраге. Егерь пошел вперед с криками: «Миша, уходи!», мы за ним, а Мише крики эти до фонаря. Остановились, произвели выстрел в воздух. Отбежал на 5 метров и остановился. Стоит, наблюдает за нами. Зайдет за куст, сместится то влево, то вправо, наблюдает. Мы смотрим на него с 30 м в «ночник», «теплик», фонариком освещаем. Не уходит. Потом вообще начал нас (четверых) скрадывать по оврагу. Пришлось просто уйти. Ну а потом случился конфликт с нападением на человека. В округе слухи ходят похуже медведя. Местные говорят, что мужик был пьян, а теперь лежит в реанимации. — Да не, в удовлетворительном состоянии он, — опровергает слухи о реанимации председатель Яновичского сельисполкома Александр Изобов. — Рука прокушена, бок, спина. Но понимаете... Один погладил — медведь его даже языком лизнул — и пошел домой. А наш герой остался. Сначала медведь от него отходил, а потом — наоборот. И повалил. Все было возле дома. Александр соглашается, что непонятный медведь: не должен так дикий зверь к людям заходить. — С одной стороны, на человека напал, с другой — если бы не полезли сами, больницы можно было избежать. По словам председателя, медведь, скорее всего, будет застрелен. — В субботу уже ездили охотники — не нашли пока его. Now I will get the possession tags back on, hang and let dry at precisely 55 degrees with the fans on. After they are dry, I’ll dry clean with borax so they come out beautiful,clean and fluffy!

С первого же дня своей жизни утята хохлатой черне-ти проворно плавают и искусно ныряют. Под водой они могут пробыть до 40 секунд. С воды чернети поднимаются тяжело и шумно. Голос утки напоминает хриплое карканье. Селезень более молчалив. Его голос звучит как мелодичное «глю-глю». Хохлатая чернеть питается в основном животной пищей, добывая ее под водой на глубине до 3—4 метров. В поведении хохлатой чернети наблюдается одна интересная особенность: она не боится соседства человека и гнездится вблизи его жилья. The enormous sinkhole's interior is about 1,004 feet long and 492 feet wide, Xinhua reported. Some of the plants growing in the forest can reach a person's shoulders, leader of the expedition team Chen Lixin told Xinhua. The hole could even be home to species that science has not recorded yet. Chen told Live Science that he "wouldn't be surprised" to discover new species within the hole. Cave researchers abseiled all the way to the bottom of the hole during the expedition and returned on May 6. It brings the number of recorded sinkholes in the region to 30. Sinkholes in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region are particularly common. The rock below the surface of the land is prone to becoming naturally dissolved by acid rain. Over time, it causes a chasm within the earth and eventually causes the surface to fall through, creating the sinkhole. While sinkholes can form in all areas with karst topography—a type of landscape where sinkholes commonly form—this area of China is known for its sinkholes that reach enormous depths, with gigantic entrances. In other parts of the world, sinkholes may be smaller and unnoticeable. Many sinkholes also act as aquifers and sources of water, LiveScience reported. For 700 million people, sinkhole aquifers provide a primary water source, cave expert George Veni told the news outlet. "In China you have this incredibly visually spectacular karst with enormous sinkholes and giant cave entrances and so forth," Veni told LiveScience. "In other parts of the world you walk out on the karst and you really don't notice anything." The most common areas for large sinkholes are China, Mexico and Papua New Guinea, according to Xinhua. The same researchers have discovered other enormous sinkholes in the area. In 2019, they discovered a cluster of 19 sinkholes located in the same region, China Daily reported. The sinkholes were all connected by an unground cave system and river, the news outlet reported. It was one of the largest sinkhole clusters ever found in this region.
