První ročník Pytlácké noci v sále Bušovické hospody uspořádaly Český svaz ochránců přírody v Rokycanech a Okresní myslivecký spolek Českomoravské myslivecké jednoty. Přípravě této humorně laděné myslivecké akce předcházela pečlivá příprava sálu i bohaté tomboly, na kterou spojili své síly ochránci s myslivci, věnovalo několik spolků i jednotlivců. „Všichni, kteří podpořili Pytláckou noc, tak dali jasně najevo svoji podporu oběma pořadatelským organizacím, které na Rokycansku úzce spolupracují. A je i chvályhodné, že jednotlivé myslivecké spolky chápou i úlohu okresního subjektu jako svoji důležitou součást a podporují jej nejen zvěřinou do tomboly, ale i pořádáním nejrůznějších kynologických akcí. I za to jim patří velký dík,“ uvedl předseda ZO ČSOP Rokycany Pavel Moulis. Před osmou hodinou večerní se příjemně vytopený sál začal zaplňovat nejen samotnými myslivci, ale především nemysliveckou veřejností, což je zcela jistě dobrou zprávou pro pořádání podobných akcí. Nemyslivci se tak mohli přesvědčit o tom, že myslivost je nejen soubor činností prováděných v přírodě ve vztahu k volně žijící zvěři jako součásti ekosystému, ale i významná spolková činnost směřující k udržení a rozvíjení mysliveckých tradic a zvyků jako součásti českého národního kulturního dědictví. Krátce po osmé hodině následovalo stylové zahájení loveckými fanfárami pěticí trubačů. Součástí zahájení byl nástup kynologů a jejich čtyřnohých přátel a sokolníků z rokycanského střediska. Sokolník Petr Moulis seznámil přítomné s organizačními pokyny ohledně průběhu večera, kdy se představili kynologové se svými čtyřnohými pomocníky, stejně tak sokolníci se svými dravci. Velkým zážitkem bylo pro přítomné pasování na lovce jelení zvěře v podání Radima Šímy. K mysliveckým plesům patří především zvěřinová tombola, která byla v letošním roce velice bohatá. Účastníci Pytlácké noci mohli vyhrát nejrůznější zvěř, což jistě přispělo k příjemně strávenému večeru, kde se potkala řada kamarádů, kteří se nejen příjemně bavili, ale i popovídali o problematice současné myslivosti.

Вчера после долгого перерыва посетили Нарочь. И не прогадали. Вода остыла, эхолот показывал 12.5 градусов, и щука начала активно кушать. За день поимели как минимум десятка два поклёвок на разные приманки. Пацаны большую часть времени ловили на более мелкие приманки, размером около 5 дюймов. У них поклёвок было больше, но и размер рыбы соответствующий, 1-1.5 кило щупачки. Я же упирался в более крупные приманки. Удалось соблазнить одну упитанную 80-ку, и ещё поиметь один сход хорошей рыбы. Не считая ещё 5-6 холостых поклёвок. Сработала классика: большой Пумба в 206-м цвете.🔥👍 Основная часть поклёвок на банках с травой и на свалах с них на глубинах 5-8 метров. Там же и держалась бо́льшая часть кормовой рыбы. По щуке оскомину сбили. How to Call in a Bull Elk Like a Calling Champion Do You Use These Techniques? You might expect a top elk caller to focus his hunting advice on proper call selection, volume, tone, timing or teamwork. But one Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation World Elk Calling Championship winner says perhaps the most critical step to calling in elk is how you set up to intercept an approaching bull. Corey Jacobsen of Boise, Idaho, is one of the most decorated world champion elk callers in the country, as well as a consistently successful bowhunter. Jacobsen offers the following key advice on calling elk into bow range: “The setup might be the most critical step," Jacobsen said. "It always plays a major role in determining the outcome of a hunt. I can’t count how many hunts have been blown by a bad setup — too much brush to shoot through, not enough cover to hide in, no shooting lanes, inconsistent wind currents, caught in the open, the list goes on and on. “I always repeat one word to myself when I’m setting up on a bugling bull: ARC. “The meaning of ARC is twofold. First, a bull will often approach your setup by circling downwind. I like to visualize a straight line from the caller to the bull, then draw an imaginary arc on the downwind side. This is the path a bull will likely follow as [it] comes in. Always try to set up along that arc. “The second thing ARC means to me is ‘Always Remember Concealment.’ Elk survive by three main senses: sight, sound and smell. Conceal yourself from these senses every time you set up. Set up in front of brush or trees and allow your camouflage to break up your outline (and give you a clearer shot than if you’re positioned behind cover). Clear the area where you set up. This will eliminate the chance of snapping a twig as you shift your weight or draw your bow. Obey the wind. No argument. No excuses. If the elk smells you, the hunt is over. No amount of cover spray, odor-eliminating gear or luck will make your scent disappear from a bull’s nose if the wind is going straight toward him. Keep the wind in your favor. “Hunting with a partner is an incredibly effective way to call a bull past your setup and increase the chances of getting a high-percentage shot. If you’re the shooter, use a rangefinder to determine distances to trees, stumps or rocks around your setup, thus eliminating any guessing when the elk shows up. “Finally, be sure to draw your bow only when the bull’s vision is obstructed, when his head is turned or behind a tree. Few things are more frustrating than having a perfect setup and everything coming together, only to have it all fall apart at the moment of truth." In the RMEF World Elk Calling Championships, amateur callers have 30 seconds to mimic cow and bull sounds. Professional competitors like Jacobsen are required to make specific calls including standard bugles and cow calls as well as breeding calls. Judges score each competitor anonymously. Winners in the six divisions of competition receive prizes and cash ranging from $500 to $2,500. The event helps raise awareness of RMEF elk, habitat and conservation initiatives.

Choose the Best Knife for Deer Hunting Should you go with a fixed-blade or a folder? A lifelong deer hunter weighs in with his preferences You can gut and skin a buck with a penknife or a Bowie or any blade in between, but to do the job right, select a tool designed with the deer hunter in mind. Fixed Blade with Gut-Hook If you haven’t tried a fixed-blade knife with a gut-hook, you should. Roll a buck onto his back and use the knife point to make a small incision in the white hair and abdominal wall of the lower belly. Turn the knife over, insert the sharp hook into the slit and zipper the animal open up to the sternum. With a hook, there’s no exposed steel tip to pierce a deer’s paunch and make a mess, or clip your finger. These days it’s vital that you stay knick-free. A Michigan hunter recently was infected with bovine tuberculosis after he sliced his hand while dressing a buck, and there are other deer diseases out there. Be careful and wear rubber gloves. Once you’ve finished the incision and rolled the big bubble of innards out of a deer, you can put leverage on a sturdy fixed knife, which is typically 8 inches long overall, and cut and work your way up into the breastbone of a deer with the long, primary blade. That makes it easier to reach inside the chest cavity and sever and extract the windpipe and other tough-to-reach stuff. Folding Knife One day last fall, I pulled out my Buck Folding Hunter, an iconic hunting knife that has been sheathed on my belt for more than 20 years, and went to work on a freshly killed 8-pointer. I flipped out the 3¾-inch clip-point blade, carefully cut a 2-inch slit in the deer’s hide at the lower belly, fitted two fingers in the incision to use as a blade guide, and zippered the deer open up to the sternum. Back at camp I did a quick skin and cape job and used the razor-sharp blade to carve out a backstrap, which my buddies and I grilled and devoured around the fire pit that night. A modern folding knife, or “lockback,” from a reputable American cutlery manufacturer is almost as rugged as a fixed-blade. Over the years blade makers have greatly improved and strengthened the “rocking bar” mechanism that firmly locks the blade in place when the knife is open and in use. A folding knife is compact and lightweight, easy to carry in a belt sheath or daypack. No wonder it’s so popular with hunters. Knife Buying Tips Websites are chock full of knives these days, many of them cheap and flimsy. Stay away from junk knives, especially folders. Besides not holding an edge, a cheap knife might make a mess of your deer, or worse, break and cut you. I recommend you pay at least $60 to $80 for a hunting knife from a major cutlery brand, and $100 or more is not too much if you find a brand-name or custom blade you like. Most people shop online, I but recommend you go to a store and hand-test several knives before you buy. Some won’t seem to fit and feel right, while other models will balance comfortably in your palm and fingers. Open and close all blades on folders and make sure there’s zero blade wiggle. A stag or wooden handle is pretty, but to me a synthetic or rubber grip is better for fieldwork. It keeps a knife from sliding around in your hand when it’s wet and bloody. If you prefer a fixed or folder without a gut-hook, choose between two blade styles. A drop-point has a thick, curved blade that is strong and durable for gutting up into a deer’s sternum. It is excellent for skinning because you can use the full belly edge. On a clip-point, the blade runs straight out from the handle and then curves up to a thinner point. A clip-point is OK for all-around deer work, and great for skinning and caping. You’ll choose from among all sorts of blade materials, from 440 stainless to S30V to 420 HC and on and on. As long as you buy quality, don’t worry about the type of steel, all of which will prove durable and fairly easy to sharpen and keep honed.

Less Lethal Wolf Ammo? Roughly 30 local ranchers gathered at the fairgrounds in Carey, Idaho, last week to talk wolves. But this was far from the typical wolf discussion. The workshop, possibly the first of many hosted by Defenders of Wildlife, took an unusual and widely unacknowledged tack: Don't shoot the predator, protect the prey. The morning served as a crash course in a host of non-lethal deterrents to wolf predation, from guard dogs to grazing rotations. It also marked the first attempt by Defenders to share with the public lessons learned over the past three years by the Wood River Wolf Project. Defenders of Wildlife spokeswoman Suzanne Stone says the project has field-tested numerous tools for decreasing livestock losses to predators, an approach that replaces the habit of killing problem animals with the concept of coexistence. "If you do nothing and kind of rely on the traditional lethal control methods routinely used by [U.S. Department of Agriculture] Wildlife Services for the states, then you're not really addressing the problem," Stone says. "You're just perpetuating it...Dead wolves don't learn lessons." If the Wood River Wolf Project doesn't ring any bells, it's no surprise to Stone. The project, now in its fourth year, has intentionally sought little press coverage, she says. Meanwhile, participants have used guard dogs, noisemakers and lights to haze wolves away from the project's 10,000 sheep. They've even tested an Eastern European wolf deterrent called fladry, a type of fencing that uses long vertical strips of red fabric to frighten wolves and coyotes. Stone says Defenders was "nervous" about hosting last week's coexistence demonstration. "We've been trying to fly under the radar on this project for quite some time," she says. "We just don't try to make any kind of public news about [these projects] because the wolf debate is so controversial that it puts a lot of pressure on the ranchers who are partnering with us." The demonstration came fast on the heels of news that Idaho's 2011-2012 wolf hunt will be governed by some of the most lax regulations to date. Quotas are virtually nonexistent across most of the state. Nonresident licenses were knocked down to $31.75 earlier this month. The Idaho Fish and Game Commission increased the bag limit from one wolf to two wolves per hunter. And they've added a trapping-season component to the hunt, further increasing the potential wolf harvest over the next seven months.

Žival se je dobro ukoreninila in njena populacija se je začela postopoma povečevati. Od takrat je prišlo do ponovne naselitve po vsem ozemlju Belorusije. Trenutna populacija je ocenjena na 8,5-9 tisoč posameznikov. Najljubši habitati so gozdovi, ki se nahajajo v bližini jezer in rek. Dolžina telesa brez repa lahko doseže 70-80 cm.
