Pneumonia found in bighorn sheep in Montana Nine bighorn sheep that were recently introduced into the Little Belt Mountains of Montana have died from pneumonia. Several other sheep within the same herd group have also been demonstrating symptoms of respiratory disease. Bighorn sheep were common in the Little Belt Mountain Range before they were largely extirpated from the mountain range by the early 1900s. Montana Fish Wildlife & Parks and several partner organizations worked to translocate wild sheep to this area in 2020 and 2021 by capturing 83 bighorn sheep in the upper Missouri River Breaks and releasing them into the eastern Little Belts. All of the translocated sheep were fitted with GPS collars before release. Pneumonia in bighorn sheep is often extremely fatal and can severely affect lamb survival in problematic areas. Mycoplasma ovipneumoniae, which is a bacteria that can be carried by wild and domestic sheep, is believed to be the primary agent associated with outbreaks of pneumonia in bighorn sheep. Typically, pneumonia outbreaks among wild sheep are linked to instances where domestic and wild sheep have cohabitated. FWP biologists have closely tracked the movements of the translocated bighorn sheep in the Little Belts and found no evidence of wild sheep coming into contact with domestic flocks. However, tests of at least two bighorn ewes captured from the Missouri Breaks and moved to the Little Belts in December 2021 later came back positive for the respiratory disease. All of the sheep relocated to the Little Belts were tested for disease, but results weren’t available in time for the relocation. Recently, FWP has not documented pneumonia in the upper Missouri River Breaks herds and will continue to closely monitor sheep in both areas.

Но мы поговорим сегодня о другом масле, и попробуем сравнить все за и против. Думаю некому не секрет способ приготовления рыбы. Берём масло, рыбу, муку, соль, ну и сковороду. Хотя могу сразу оговориться, один из важных факторов какую сковороду мы берем, алюминиевую или чугунную это тоже важно. Мой фаворит - чугунную! (хорошо и стабильно держит температуру) которая так важна при жарке. Рыба - беру для сравнения и белую (лещ) и карпа (более 5 кг) рыба с содержанием большого процента собственного жира. Жирный карп пожаренный на подсолнечном масле остаётся жирным и не все могут такую рыбу есть. Вроде чего тут особенного пожарить рыбу? И все-таки мне кажется есть. Попробуем сравнить всеми нами известное подсолнечное масло и масло от которого многие отмахиваются, это рапсовое масло. Подсолнечное масло полезно людям с больным сердцем. И использовать лучше в салате - остаются все полезные свойства. Рапсовое же масло, масло не имеющее "холестерина". Подсолнечное и рапсовое масла получают из подсолнечника и рапса. Они имеют необходимые питательные компоненты, которые необходимы для улучшения здоровья и иммунной системы организма. Наряду с этим их в основном предпочитают при приготовлении пищи. Нерафинированные масла, представляющие собой естественную выжимку с допустимыми примесями, хоть и содержат наибольшее количество витаминов, микро - и макроэлементов, как правило, имеют низкую точку дымления, для некоторых может понятней будет - точку расщепления, то есть максимальная точка кипения. И она у таких, как подсолнечное и рапсовое самая низкая = примерно 107° . Не отфильтрованные органические частицы быстро начинают гореть, поэтому нерафинированные масла предпочтительнее не подвергать термической обработке. Подсолнечное масло извлекается из семян подсолнечника; и считается наиболее потребляемым и предпочтительным типом растительного масла. Поли насыщенное масло; также это три глицерид, так как он содержит типичные свойства оригинального растительного масла. Рапсовое масло. Причем все полезные вещества в нем не только сохранились, но и приумножились. Это было доказано в исследовательском эксперименте В.С. Гамаюровой (д-р хим. наук) и Л.Э. Ржечицкой (канд. хим. наук) посвященному химическому составу масел 1. Так, после анализа жирно кислотного состава традиционного сорта рапса и сорта «канола» было выявлено, что доля насыщенных жирных кислот, которая необходима человеку для получения энергии и поддержания деятельности клеток, выросла в среднем на половину (+47%). Доля ненасыщенных жирных кислот при этом упала всего на 15%. После сравнения доли «полезных» жирных кислот у различных масел было выявлено следующее: доля ненасыщенных жирных кислот в рапсовом масле всего на 32% меньше, чем в оливковом, однако на 102% больше, нежели в подсолнечном. Это источник моно ненасыщенной олеиновой кислоты – важного участника холестеринового обмена. Незаменимые линоленовая (омега-3) и линолевая (омега-6) кислоты не вырабатываются в теле человека, но необходимы для построения клеточных мембран и поддержания здоровья сосудов. Как говорят - в несчастье, счастье помогло. Сколько лет использовали только подсолнечное, а тут не досмотрел и взяли на дачу бутылку с рапсовым маслом. И похоже не пожелели. Springfield Armory Model 1903 Sporter Many, if not most, of our modern bolt-action hunting rifles have their roots in military rifles of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. After the World Wars, an abundance of surplus rifles was quickly taken advantage of by hunters. The 1903 Springfield was commonly “sporterized” by pulling the action and putting it in a shorter, more-handy “sporter” stock. Of course, they were often re-barreled, re-chambered, and highly-modified for specific hunting purposes—all based around the robust 1903 action. It was common for gunsmiths to “sporterize” surplus rifles for customers, turning them into heirloom hunting rifles. If I was to buy one, I’d take the original .30/06 chambering, although they were often re-barreled in other calibers like .270 Win. The 1903’s action was built for battle, and its heavier and more robust than most of our hunting actions today. There’s no doubt though that it would make a fine hunting rifle even today. 2. Winchester Pre-64 Model 70 If there is a ubiquitous American hunting rifle that transcends time and space, it’s the pre-64 Winchester Model 70. After being introduced in 1937, the Model 70 became known as “the rifleman’s rifle,” and a favorite of long-time Outdoor Life editor Jack O’Connor. The Model 70 was more refined than previous copies of Mauser-style controlled-feed actions and featured a three-position safety. A redesign of the Model 70 in 1964—including conversion to a push-feed action—almost instantly made the pre-64 Model 70’s collector’s items. Even today, pre-64 actions are popular for custom hunting rifle builds and original rifles are as collectible as ever. Although O’Connor noted—in his introduction of the “new” Model 70 in the March, 1964 issue of OL—that the “new Model 70” featured a stronger action, better case head support, and several other features he viewed as improvements, he still believed that the Model 70’s produced prior to World War II “were probably the best factory-produced big-game rifles ever turned out.” 3. Savage Model 99 Somewhat odd-looking, this design from 1899 was one of the most popular American hunting rifles in the early 20th century—and still carries quite a following. It was a lever-action that featured a unique rotary magazine that allowed for spitzer-style bullets to be used—something tube-fed lever guns couldn’t do. It was offered in a variety of cartridges, but if I had to pick one, I’d probably go with the .250/3000 Savage. It was a screaming-fast cartridge when it was released in 1915 and doesn’t lag too far behind the .25/06. In just about any offering, the Model 99 would be a great deer or black bear rifle, and the aforementioned Frank Glaser noted that in .250/3000 Savage, it was his favorite all-around market hunting rifle.

Named SEE Shell, the app uses machine learning to identify with 94 percent accuracy whether a photo of something with a tortoiseshell pattern is real or faux. It’s the first mobile app to use computer vision to combat the illegal wildlife trade, according to Alexander Robillard, a predoctoral fellow with the Smithsonian’s Data Science Lab who built the computer model that powers it, and it will help inform conservation-minded shoppers and law enforcement. “Even if we get a few hundred travelers actively using it and collecting data and avoiding buying real tortoiseshell, it’s a great thing,” Nahill says. Labour accuses Government of being ‘complicit’ in trophy trade Delays to the Hunting Trophies (Import Prohibition) Bill have led to accusations that Conservative peers are slowing the Bill intentionally. Labour has accused the Government of being “complicit” in trophy hunting after a bill that would see imports banned in the UK became tied up in the House of Lords. Commons leader Penny Mourdaunt has insisted that MPs will get another chance to debate the Hunting Trophies (Import Prohibition) Bill, though more Parliamentary time will have to be allocated. Opposition politicians accused Conservative peers of filibustering and trying to prevent the Bill from becoming law. Added amendments were branded last week as “death by a thousand cuts” in Parliament, with 62 being added separately. Those making changes have denied trying to “kill the Bill”, instead insisting they want to improve it. Labour is urging the Government to stop “dither and delaying” and revive the Bill’s chances of being passed, accusing them of being on the side of the killers. If made law, the Bill would prohibit bringing into the UK body parts of species of conservation concern. Thousands of trophies have been brought into the UK over the last decade, including from endangered species. Eight years ago, the death of Cecil the lion brought trophy hunting to the attention of the British public and the Government has since announced its intention to ban bringing them to this country. Labour has also promised to ban importing trophies to the UK if it wins the next election. Steve Reed, shadow environmental secretary, said: “Hunting endangered animals is barbaric and must be confined to history. “We must stop the selfish trophy hunters who want to slaughter then display endangered animals’ body parts for their own perverse self-gratification. “The Conservative Government must stop siding with these killers. If they refuse to act, they will be complicit in the slaughter as they break yet another pre-election promise. “The next Labour government will do the right thing and ban the sickening import of these trophies.” The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs was contacted for comment. Conservative peer Lord Mancroft, who has expressed concerns over the Bill and tabled amendments, said on Thursday: “Although the House of Lords was given very little time to discuss the Bill, it was noticeable that it had virtually no support from any party.” Committee stage saw several Tory opponents voice their concerns while discussing their proposed amendments. Speaking at this stage earlier this month, Lord Mancroft branded the Bill “socialist legislation” before noting: “It is supported entirely on the Labour and Liberal Democrat benches and clearly has very little support on our benches. “It is an odd thing for the Government to do.”

Know and Respect the Law For good reasons, each state has set its own rules and regulations around the game of hunting. The departments of state parks are dedicatedly making the best decisions that are underlying these rules & regulations based on the first-hand information they have got. Game laws are developed based on qualitative and quantitative data and are not arbitrary for protecting the game from over-harvesting. The key component of conserving the wildlife is maintaining the ecosystem balance based on the regions. These rules & regulations are there for a reason. Breaking the laws is inherently unethical. This doesn’t mean all legal hunting is ethical. Some of the examples of illegal hunting are trespassing, exceeding bag limits or poaching, and not adhering to the seasons of hunting. Last Chapter Kill It is very important for a responsible and ethical to understand how quick & clean kill is the need of hunting. The hunter should have the proper skillset, caliber, and ammunition to take the shot so that their hunt is killed quickly and there is no unnecessary suffering for the animal on target. Chest and headshots are the 2 key kill zones that lead to rapid & humane death. In case the animal is wounded and not killed, a quick-kill shot should be taken by the hunter. Fair Chase Ethical hunting involves giving a fair chase to the animal. The hunter should not have an unfair advantage over their hunt. There are a set of rules that responsible hunters follow like not pursuing a tied-up, caged, cornered, lured, drugged, or treed animal. Also, one must know that food is the primary reason for hunting. Hunters should use the entire animal and should never leave the remains of their hunt behind, out of respect for that animal.

Two Idaho wolves kill 143 sheep in freak "pile up" Two wolves are responsible for the deaths of 143 sheep in Idaho’s Boise Foothills. The “pile-up” occurred in mid-May and, following an investigation conducted by the Idaho Department of Fish and Game (IDFG) and Wildlife Services, officials determined that two wolves “caused the sheep to flee in panic,” which caused them to “crush or suffocate each other” as they tried to escape, according to a press release. During the investigation, Wildlife Services discovered two sets of wolf tracks in the same location as the incident. While permission was given to remove the problem wolves if found, officials were unable to locate the animals. “This sadly exemplifies why wolf management in Idaho can be so challenging,” said IDFG Director Ed Schriever. “People cherish the Foothills for its diversity of wildlife, along with the opportunities for grazing, recreation and other activities. In this instance, a pair of wolves caused a significant loss of sheep for a rancher, and despite our efforts as a department to reduce or prevent this, it can still occur, and we regret that rancher Frank Shirts and his herders had to deal with this loss.” The Boise Foothills have been used for domestic sheep grazing for over 100 years even though the area is frequented by wolves. According to IDFG, between five and 14 wolves are removed from the area annually due to repeat incidences of livestock depredation. To date, there are roughly 1,600 wolves within the state and, while hunting and trapping of wolves is permitted, wildlife management is still necessary for these sorts of issues. Since Jan. 1, 2022, hunters have killed 49 wolves statewide, trappers have taken 81 and another 31 wolves were lethally removed by Wildlife Services.
