House OKs bill meant to help owners keep guns in emergencies
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Ohio House lawmakers have advanced a proposal meant to ensure that gun owners’ lawfully held firearms and ammunition aren’t seized by the government during natural disasters, public health crises or other declared emergencies.

The bill that cleared the Republican-led House on Thursday also would deem certain firearms businesses “essential” during those emergencies, temporarily extend concealed carry licenses that would expire during an emergency and keep government entities from stopping lawful hunting or fishing practices during declared emergencies.

GOP Sen. Tim Schaffer of Lancaster, who sponsored the bill, has said it does not add new gun rights but clarifies that gun owners “cannot have their rights taken away.”

Supporters say it would help protect self-defense for law-abiding gun owners.

Democrats opposing the measure say it would hinder local governments from best protecting their residents during an emergency, and possibly violate Ohio’s home rule provision of the state constitution by limiting how they handle emergency situations.

Opponents also criticize another provision in the legislation that would allow law enforcement officers dealing with a “riot or mob” to cordon off any areas threatened by that group. They say that could create unsafe environments for peaceful protesters interacting with police or facing counter-protesters.

Hunters From California report that a safe is good when it really saves.

Wildfires in Southern California are a frequent phenomenon, one might say, as common as winter snow in Alaska. The "dry season" lasts an average of six months without any raindrop. Dry grass or forest catches fire, and the wind spreads the flames like lightning.

There is not enough fresh water in California. Households often limit their water consumption. It is forbidden to grow vegetables on the territory of the house, because they need to be watered.

These problems have been around for many, many years. WHY is the scale of fires increasing every year? And why did the fire take on the scale of a national disaster in January 2025?

Experts compete to calculate the damage. The damage caused by fires in Los Angeles today already amounts to 135-150 billion dollars. Someone claims 200 billion or even more. Everyone is discussing the cost of celebs and politicians houses that were burned down or remained unharmed.

But for some reason, nobody talk today that California is the richest state in the United States in terms of species diversity of flora and fauna. And it suffered most of all. Several different climatic zones — from the temperate mountains in the north to the California desert and from the coastal mountains to the arid chaparral — contribute to this abundance of animals.

California boasts a diverse ecosystem that includes many terrestrial creatures such as raccoons, weasels, otters, beavers, hawks, lizards, owls, coyotes, skunks, snakes, cougars, black bears, deer, squirrels and many others. What happened to them? What is the damage? And how it can be restored.

This is the view of a house we have for sale in Montana US with 20 acres.
We live in Iowa (it’s currently 84 and extremely humid) and every time we visit the house, I dream of being snowed in here in the winter.
I love seeing everyone’s posts, the world is a beautiful place. 🌍 ❤️
